The 2021 national rally champion and the national motocross champion, will each receive two return tickets to Nairobi for the 2022 WRC Safari rally and FIM Central Africa Motocross Championship respectively.

Uganda Airlines acting CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki made the offer on Saturday at the unveiling ceremony of a partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) that will have competitors and officials of the latter receive a 15 percent discount on the air tickets.

“We are grateful that FMU has joined to promote the Uganda Airlines brand and we shall fly them to the different destinations at 15 % discount for all officials, bikers and drivers,” Bamuturaki said.

The assistant commissioner of air transport and regulation in the Ministry of Works and Transport Robert Ntambi who represented the permanent secretary in the ministry of Works transport lauded FMU for nurturing talents.

“It makes me proud to know that FMU has decided to make Uganda Airlines their official career and I believe the federation will benefit much more from this partnership on top of the airline getting mileage,” Ntambi said.

FMU president Dipu Ruparelia urged Uganda Airlines to utilise this partnership and use athletes as brand ambassadors.

“We have a fully occupied annual calendar with international and local activities. As a federation we shall do our best to see that our competitors and officials use the Airlines while traveling,” Ruparelia said.

He cited the FIM Africa Motocross of Nations, the FIM Central Africa and the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally and other events where Ugandans would use the airline.

The commissioner for sports Rev Duncan Mugumya lauded Uganda Airlines for supporting sports.

“Sports supports trade because the athletes need equipment and what they wear, so tapping into them creates great opportunities and I hope others will emulate you,” He said.

National Council of Sports chairman Dr. Donald Rukare urged federations to make Uganda Airlines their official travel partner.

“We congratulate FMU for this partnership because it is in line with the ministry of Sports directive to use Uganda Airlines as their official career,” Rukare said.
