Prisons and Police emerged as the 2021 hand league champions in the men and women categories respectively.

Police edged Prisons 34-29 to break the latter’s unbeaten record despite lifting the title.  

It was a gruelling mouth-watering clash between the two forces. The police side was boosted by the presence of Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Sorowen.

Aziz Yakubu emerged man of the match following his performance in the game.

Meanwhile, in the ladies category Police beat Prisons, 32-30 to win the league title last won four years ago.

Sh25m fine awaits clubs

Clubs that fail to represent the country at the international stage after winning the national league shall be fined sh24.9m.

Uganda Handball Federation president Sheila Agonzibwa disclosed at the National Handball League prize-giving ceremony on Friday afternoon in Old Kampala.

“I’m very grateful to the team that put together this league. I also thank the management of clubs that participated in this year’s league and we congratulate the winners,” Agonzibwa said.
