The 2021 USPA Media Excellence Awards on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, today received a big boost from Uganda Airlines.

The Airline offered two return air tickets to Mombasa Kenya and two nights fully funded at Pride Inn Flamingo Hotel in Mombasa for the winner of the Andrew Patrick Lwandaga Life Time Service Award.

Announcing the package, Doreen Nambatya the acting Sales and Marketing Manager said that this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with USPA.

“We are delighted to partner with USPA in this noble cause. As an airline we are committed to a longer-term partnership,” Nambatya said.

 “It is a great opportunity for us as an airline to be involved with USPA. We have opened our spaces to sports by flying Ugandan teams to various destinations across the continent. I am proud that we are now engaging sports journalists. We look forward to many more initiatives.” She added.

The award is a recognition for a sports journalist who has demonstrated passion and excellence as well as contributed enormously to the field of sports journalism throughout their career.

Celebrated Photographer (Vision Group) Mpalanyi Ssentongo, Fred Musisi Kiyingi (Daily Monitor), and Free-lance broadcaster Mark Ssali are the nominees for the Patrick Lwandaga Lifetime award.

USPA President Patrick Kanyomozi expressed his delight at the new partnership and pledged to ensure a long-term relationship with the new partners.

“The USPA Media Excellence Awards are a great opportunity for sports journalists to be acknowledged for the exceptional effort in delivering sports information,” Kanyomozi noted.

The winners from eight categories include, Bashir Khan Lugudo, James Opoka, John Bugembe Ssenkubuge, Edirisa Mayanja Njuki, Samuel Wossita, Kevin Aliro, and Paul Waibale Senior Award shall receive a custom-designed plaque and a cash prize of sh1m.

The Awards are supported by Uganda Airlines, Nile Special, and Standard Chartered bank.
