It was a day of surprises for the fans as the East Africa Club Netball Champions National Insurance Corporation Netball Club (NIC) did not have any player on the tournament team and did not also produce the MVP of the tournament.

To the organisers centre Kingpin, Jessica Achan from Prisons was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the East African Netball Club Championship 2022.

Achan was also named best centre and received her award from her boss Samuel Akena, Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons.

Still, Prisons’ Alice Wasagali was named the best wing attacker because of her ball-handling and passing abilities.

Prisons emerged third overall after losing the semi-final to KCCA in a 44-43 showdown in Kamwokya a Kampala Suburb that hosts the offices of the political organisation National Unity Party-NUP led by celebrated politician and artist Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

For champions NIC they continue to dominate both the local and regional netball following their unstoppable victories in the different National and Regional competitions.

NIC beat KCCA 44-35 in the final while WOB and Kampala University drew 31 all in the men’s category, but Kampala University emerged winners on goal difference.

The men’s tournament was played in a round-robin format.
