Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) joined the rest of the world to mark World Sports Journalist Day on Saturday, July 2,2022 courtesy of their big sponsor City Tyres.
They marked the day in style with fun, excitement and competition scuffle as they held games to mark the day.
The sports challenge had the scribes form three teams that competed in football, range shooting, darts and a treadmill run, all at the Mandela Sports Arena in the Industrial Area.
The print media took the day after pooling 90 points, followed by Television team with 60 points and radio finishing third with 50 points.
Before the games, City Tyres CEO, Kumal Venkatesh took the journalists into a self-motivated financial lecture that hinted mainly at taking charge and being proactive in their business life.
He highlighted the seven habits of highly effective people that journalists should embrace. He said that despite being journalists, they need to get tips on the habits of the most successful people in the world.
“The theories are scientific; even if you pick one, you will start improving results from your work as a journalist. Always ask yourself why you are doing something, then the how and what will come later,” he emphasised.
“Identifying your inner circle and practising the five golden rules in life,” he added. The USPA president Patrick Kanyomozi thanked City Tyres for sponsoring their day with good events.
