Finishing 17th out of 24 in the 2022 Rugby World Cup is a great performance for the Uganda Sevens team that was appearing for the second time in the global event.

However, beating Germany 19-12 in the Bowl final was a step achieved having lost twice to the same team in the Commonwealth Games and Challenger series.

Uganda beat longtime tormentors Germany 19-12 in a high intensity game played at Cape Town in South Africa.

Tries from Philip Wokorach, captain Micheal Wokorach and Ian Munyani with a winning try then two conversions by Philip Wokorach saw Germany fall in Uganda’s hands.

What next for Uganda 7s

Rugby World Cup comes once after four years. Now Uganda Rugby Union must lay a strategy on how to maintain the team but most important is how to penetrate and enter the Lucrative HSBC World Rugby 7s Series.

Coach Tolbert Onyango has to find team depth, that can sustain him for the different competitions and room for better replacements if one is missing due to any reason well known to him and the technical bench.

However, all this will depend on the support by the union.

END.
