2022 East Africa University Games rankings:

Overall winner: Ndejje University – 124 Medals [59 Gold, 39 Silver, 26 Bronze]

2nd: Makerere University – 68 Medals [21 Gold, 20 Silver, 27 Bronze]

3rd: Makerere University Business School (MUBS) – 40 Medals [15 Gold, 6 Silver, 19 Bronze]

Ugandan universities continued to dominate the regional University Games during the competitions held at Ndejje University campus, Luwero district from December 16-21,2022.

Ndejje University, Makerere University and Makerere University Business School were on top of all Universities winning gold silver and bronze respectively in the 2022 East Africa University Games.

Ndejje the overall title winner pooled 124 medals of which 59 were Gold, 39 were Silver, and 26 were bronze medals.

Makerere came second with 68 medals, (21 gold, 20 silver and 27 bronze), while in third position Makerere Business School (MUBS) managed 40 medals (15 gold, 6 silver and 19 bronze).

Ndejje took advantage of home turf to retain the overall silverware getting a podium finish in the 12th edition of the biannual games.

 The Luwero-based side won gold in Basketball (men), Woodball (men), Karate (men), Handball (men and women), Badminton (women), Swimming (Women), Taekwondo (Women), Darts (women) and athletics (men and women) to make the lions share cut.

Makerere University dominated the board game, chessmen and women, Badminton and woodball while Makerere University Business school fetched their medals from swimming, Woodball (women), athletics and Table Tennis.

Kenya’s Strathmore university finished Rugby 7’s unbeaten as Kenya Methodist university KEMU salvaged Taekwondo, Kisii took Darts and Kenyatta Table Tennis Men. Fast-growing Busitema took gold in Scrabble while Kampala University (KU) beat Victoria University (VU) 68-51 in the Netball final to scoop gold.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) overcame Ndejje 42-37 in the Netball third-place play-off match. In the football final, Bugema University edged Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) 1-0 in the men’s football finale with Din Swalaf Sebaale scoring a single goal.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) football team won the gold medal in women’s football with a 1-0 win over Kampala University (KU) through Bridget Nabisalu. On the other hand, Kenyatta University came in the 4th position with 9 gold medals, 21 silver and 33 bronze medals and a total of 63 medals.
