The Women’s rugby league defending champions Black Pearls have sent out a statement on their readiness to defend the Women’s Rugby Premiership League this year.

The Bweyogerere side start the title defence on Saturday January 28,2023 in Entebbe against Avengers in Busambaga.

On the other hand the host Avengers have promised inflicting pain to the King’s Park based Black Pearls in this year’s league title inscription.

The hosts finished second in the Women’s Premiership League last year.

“With the preparations we have had as a team, the gel and bonding we are ready for any team that comes our way. We are coming in strong to defend our title and key for us will be team work” Black Pearls senior players Emily Lekuru revealed.

Meanwhile Rams’ female side Ewes will host former champions Thunderbirds at Legends away from home. “We are giving in our best this time round, most girls have picked the game experience over the two three years so other teams should not perceive us as amateurs, we shall give them a run for their money” Ewes skipper Juliet Ainomugisha charged.

Thunderbirds who completed third on the log last season releasing the league title for the first time ain’t seated. Yvonne Najjuma the Thunderbirds captain has made it clear they are back. “The League is only interesting when you have different teams break the dominence. We are back in this competition, come rain come sunshine. We are ready to play, the grace period for all this noise is done and dusted”.
