Volleyball star Daudi Okello will use the beach Volleyball tournaments to maintain his fitness while in Uganda.

The Jarkata Bhayangkara Indonesian club star told Vision sport that he will also continue guiding his local side Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) to success when in the country.

“Winning today’s game was good for me, but the most important thing is that these games are keeping me fit while here,” Okello said.

Daudi Okello and Mathew Mwenyi beat the pair of Samuel Engwau Luis / Ojangole Joseph (2-1) 18:21, 21:15, 15:12 at Kalanoga Beach Busabala today.

It was indeed a two-day gruelling fit in the sand for Uganda’s beach volleyball players over the weekend when top notch stars met again in the National Beach Volleyball Tour that enrolled 12 women’s teams and 6 men’s teams.

Last year’s top seeds of Mwenyi Mathew  / Daudi Okello reaffirmed their intention to dominate the men’s category after overcoming a hard fighting duo of Samuel Engwau and Ojangole in an exciting tie-break final (2-1).

In the women’s category, last season’s seed two Peace Busingye pairing with new kid on the block Ainembabazi Catherine powered their way to another final this time earning the Gold ware against Amuron Eunice / Namyalo Margret (2-1) 23:21, 15:21, 15:08.

The Busingyes were runner up two weeks ago against Nancy Chebet Sombei / Namara Habiba whom they this time round had to rally extra energies to overcome (2-1) 19:21, 21:12, 15:13 in the semifinal phase on Sunday.
