The second prime minister for the Busoga Kingdom, Osman Noor Ahmed has urged Busoga to embrace the rugby sport.

The premier made the appeal on Sunday in his speech at the final of the Kyabazinga 7s won by The Stanbic Black Pirates rugby after beating the Buffaloes 29-7 in the final.

The Pirates also emerged as the 2023 Nile Special 7s champions, their second national trophy after the 2017/2018 title.

“Rugby started in Busoga in this country and I want to call upon all the Busoga communities to join the sport,” Ahmed Noor said.

Noor was impressed seeing two Busoga sides Walukuba Barbarians and Jinja Hippos as one top teams playing rugby and assured the kingdom’s support of the sport as a way of supporting the youth.

Eleven teams including Buffaloes, Heathens, Walukuba, Hippos, Impis, Mongers and champions Stanbic Black Pirates.
